The science of Mathematics consists of a set of tools and logical reasoning methods that lead to solving real-world problems, simple or complex, across multiple disciplines such as physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, economics, and more. For example:
Prospective Students
Why Study Mathematics?
Because I love mathematics and want to acquire the necessary knowledge to teach it and advance it further.
Cryptography and Number Theory
Secure online transactions are based on Cryptography and Number Theory.
Probability Theory and Statistics
The amount of car insurance premiums (probability of accidents and estimation of compensation costs) relies on Probability Theory and Statistics.
Fourier Transform Theory
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is based on Fourier Transform Theory, i.e., Applied Analysis.
Mathematical Thinking
Developed mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills that enable graduates to tackle challenges both professionally and in everyday life.
Confidence and Mindset
Strong psychological resilience and self-confidence.
Teaching and Professional Activities
Essential knowledge for teaching mathematics at all levels of secondary education. Additionally, depending on the degree and type of specialization, graduates acquire knowledge applicable to specialized professional activities, with high employment rates in pharmaceutical, insurance, telecommunications, banking, and other sectors.
Undergraduate Program
The undergraduate program is structured so that in the first five (5) semesters, the core courses (mandatory) are offered, giving students the necessary mathematical foundation to choose one of the four directions offered in the subsequent semesters according to their interests.
Faculty and Research Interests
Our Department is staffed by faculty with research interests in areas such as Algebraic Geometry, Operator Theory, Differential Geometry, Complex Analysis, Differential Equations, Mathematical Physics, Mathematical Modeling, Probability, Statistics, Operations Research, Numerical Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms and Complexity, etc.
Campus Experience
The building is located on the campus, where all Schools’ Departments are housed, along with the library, student residence, gymnasium, bookstore, and bank. This provides easy communication among students from all Schools and excellent study conditions, along with additional services to support student life.
Rio and Patras
The campus is located in Rio, a well-connected and touristic area, a short distance from Patras, the third-largest city in Greece, which is a beautiful and livable city.
