Postgraduate Program
Theoretical and Applied Mathematics “THAMA”
Since the academic year 2018–2019, the Department of Mathematics has organized and operates the new Postgraduate Program in Theoretical and Applied Mathematics “THAMA” at the University of Patras (Government Gazette 1620/Vol. B/10-05-2018) in accordance with the provisions of Law 4485/2017 (Government Gazette 114/Vol. A).

The MSc “THAMA” focuses on Theoretical and Applied Mathematics and their modern applications, grounded in the study of Differential Equations and Mathematical Modeling. The program aims to:
Program Purpose
Main Goals of the MSc Program
educate and deepen knowledge in the core topics of Mathematics and their applications,
provide high-level studies in line with international standards, offering graduates the knowledge needed for academic advancement and professional development,
promote research in contemporary areas of Mathematical Science, and through Differential Equations and Mathematical Modeling, enable applications in the Natural Sciences, Biology, and Engineering Sciences.
Master’s Degree Awarded
The MSc “THEMA” awards a Master’s Degree in Theoretical and Applied Mathematics. The total number of ECTS required is sixty (60). Courses are semester-based and instruction is provided in Greek and/or English.

Program Structure and Requirements
Courses
To obtain the MSc, students must successfully complete six (6) elective courses and a Master’s thesis.
Duration
The program duration for awarding the MSc is two (2) semesters.
Admission
Up to twenty (20) graduates per year are admitted. Eligible applicants include graduates of Mathematics or Applied Mathematics Departments of Greek Universities or Polytechnic Schools, as well as equivalent departments of recognized foreign institutions. Graduates of Physics Departments, Polytechnic Schools, or Higher Military Education Institutions may also apply.
Tuition Fees
Students are not required to pay tuition fees for the MSc “THEMA”.
